Dementia is a syndrome that causes a serious loss of cognitive ability beyond that of normal aging. Symptoms of dementia include loss of memory, loss of judgment and reasoning, and changes in mood and behaviour.
Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of dementia, accounts for 64 percent of all dementias in Canada. The features of Alzheimer's disease include a gradual onset and continuing decline of short-term memory, as well as changes in judgment or reasoning, and the inability to perform familiar tasks.
SPRINT Senior Care provides a variety of care options for seniors living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. They include activities offered outside the home at our Day Program and care at specialized home through our dementia care residence.
